Despite the development of technology and the increased productivity, employees still work as long as they did in the past. This indicates not only that consumers demand more, but also that employers are seeking to make more profits than ever. Employers tend to think that the only way to maximize their profits is to have their employees work longer and take less days off. However, I assert that enough rest definitely help employees perform better at work.

First of all, I claim that employees cannot concentrate on their work if they have something to worry about. When they can take enough days off to take care of their private problems outside the work place, they can stay focused on what they are supposed to do at work. Furthermore, they can stay positive and even feel proud of what they are doing at work. Even though the actual time of work decreases, employees can spend the less work time more effectively.

Next, there are some scientific researches in favor of the point that rest help workers perform better at work. Many researches have shown that the productivity of employee doesn't go up in proportion to the increasing work time. Instead, the capacity of employee is likely to drop severely after a certain point. That's because employees get stressed after long hours' work, and their ability and willingness to work in turn plummet at the same time.

Finally, I insist that it is reasonable for employers to let their employees take more days off since as a whole, they can benefit more. That employees take more time off means that they have more time to enjoy their lives. They don't usually stay at home doing nothing to enjoy their lives, but instead they tend to go out and pay for goods and services. The increased demand possibly caused by employees taking days off would result in the increased profits of companies.

Even though some employers still argue that employee have less leisure time to maximize the profits, employees who take many times off are likely to think more positive and better perform at work than those who don't. Moreover, more and more employees start to take more leisure time, it could lead to the increased demand for goods and services in general. Most importantly, consumers in modern societies want to see creativity in good and services they pay for. The best way for employees to come up with creative ideas is to let them take their time in thinking creatively.
