Teacher

When we talk about teachers, we often think of a person who provides education for students in schools. The roles of teachers are often seen as formal, and teachers are responsible to facilitate student's learning. Learning can come in both ways. The formal education is where students learn in a public institution from a certified teacher and informal education, where students can learn even while being outdoors with a non-certified teacher. Non-certified teachers could be their parents, their friends or their family.  Through the formal and informal learning, we meet a lot of teachers in our life.

Do you realize that every one of us is a teacher in disguise? We may not have an official degree certificate as a teacher but, the moment when you tell someone what is right from wrong, you are a teacher. You teach others and share the knowledge that you have. Some teachers are good, while some are bad. You know you get a good teacher when he has passion in teaching, always motivating his students and never give up on them. On the other hand, when a teacher teaches what was written on the textbook without explaining and telling you to quit because you cannot comprehend, maybe you would say he is a bad teacher. This good and bad definition for a teacher is subjective.

Among the teachers, there is one teacher I really liked. She taught us well and helped us learn more than what was in the textbook. She taught me that life is meaningless unless we give life a meaning. Life is not just about a certificate. I remember vividly she said, "We get certificate ever since we are born and we will get one even after we die. What matters most in life is not that sheet of certificate, but how we make the best of every moments of life." I am glad she was and still is my teacher.
