Sunmin Lee/classification essay/tuesday 9

Since I was a little girl, I have wanted to be numerous kinds of person. I have been always busy to change my future dreams from a painter to a nurse, to a singer, to a scientist and so on. However, I've never changed my mind nor given up to be one thing. It is a writer. Although it is hard to mention exact skills a person needs to be a good writer, in my point of view, these are the abilities that I have to possess to become a good writer.
The most basic ability needed to be a good writer is a great insight. Lots of writers say that the insight of a writer comes from his or her various experiences of life. I cannot say that I was the one who had been through all the cruel and tragic events of the life, but I'm pretty sure that I had suffered from my own experience and had lots of chances to agonize over them. Special experience may be helpful for a writer to write something interesting but no one can react in the same way, and that is why I think the most important thing is not what you experienced but how you accepted and thought about it.
The next basic ability needed is a keen power of observation. The reason why this ability is important is because it is what writers do. Writers never ignore or pass away what normal people just miss as they go by. They sometimes break down the most normal and ordinary things to find out hidden meanings of it and shed new light on them, so we could feel our lives and the world in the different way.
The last important thing to be a good writer is an ability to create words and sentences. This skill is very essential to become a good writer. Even though you have most amazing materials to write about and a keen observation to see through everything, without clear words and characterful sentences, you cannot attract your readers. You should have your own identity and show it in your writing to the readers.
So far, I explained three basic and important skills to be a good writer. Being a writer is little bit different comparing to other careers. It is a pretty personal job so it doesn't need any test scores or teamwork. But because of that, it can be very hard to achieve without lots of practice and natural gift. Just like other careers, I must try really hard to be a good writer, especially on the three basic qualities recommended above.

    1. Background information included in the introduction seems personal; Although you have thought of getting various jobs, you haven’t given up to become a good writer.

    2. The unifying principle in the thesis statement is how to become a good writer.

    3. The first body paragraph is about a good insight. And the second body paragraph is about a keen power of observation. The third body paragraph is about an ability to create words and sentences.

    4. There are sufficient details enough to help readers understand why the three characteristics are important and how they help people to become a good writer.

    5. I think the conclusion doesn’t exactly restate the three categories.

    6. I think that the conclusion suggests a general statement about a writer as a job. It seems to me that the way it ends is effective.

Thus, it makes us to develop different and great insights from others and become a good writer.
The next basic ability needed is a keen power of observation. The reason why this ability is important is because it is what writers do. Writers never ignore or pass away what normal people just miss as they go by. For instance, whenever they watch movies or listen to music they always write down something about their feelings or thoughts. They sometimes break down the most normal and ordinary things to find out hidden meanings of it and shed new light on them in their writings. With these efforts and keen observation, readers could have different thoughts of lives and the world through reading.

Even though you have most amazing materials to write about and a keen observation to see through everything, without clear words and characterful sentences, you cannot attract your readers. You should have your own identity and show it in your writing to the readers. To have this skills, one must read a lot of different types of writings and never stop to develop language skills.
