Yujin Park / Classification Essay / Tue 9 am

Do you have a dream? We can dream and imagine our future with whatever we treasure most. Because we are still young.

Ban ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, said "Study like an idiot and Dream like a genius." He tells about how in the world the people who endeavor to do well have more success in life than geniuses and whoever really enjoys studying has more success than everyone else.
I was very impressed by his saying and It helps me to dream more and more even in the difficulties and It was a kind of catalyst for rebounding from a setback. Most of all, It makes me study and make a career to fulfuill my goal which is to work in the UN. I'm interested in international relations and also in the world education. So, I hope to work in the UNICEF in the future in order to contribute to develop the conditions of schooling and the quality of Education in Africa.
So, I'd like to explain you what kind of abilities are needed to work in the Unicef and what ablities I have for my potential career.

First, Unicef is leading global efforts to support effective and life-saving actions in child's life and
it also contributes to give all children the opportunities to receive a quality education.
So, the knowledge of education and of child walfare and the strong interest in child walfare work are needed.
In my case, with my interest in education, I'm in a course of teaching of French and English.
When I take courses of education, I take a deep interest in studying in this field. Therefore, Taking courses of education gives me not only the knowledge of education and schooling but also the broaden eye for having perspective of education. So, for futher understanding and to be professional, I'd like to study more about child walfare and education in Master's course.

Second, especially, in order to work in the Unicef, the spirit of dedication and commitment to the world is really essential. Because working in Unicef means we should be a person who contribute and commit for other people not for us.
Since 2009, I've worked as a volunteer of teaching English in child care center. When I worked as a first time, I didn't have much interest in teaching and even Unicef compared to now. However, I've changed my mind. So, my experience as a volunteer teacher made me decide to work in the Unicef.
Through this experience, I realized that how working for others, especially for children, is important.
Because even if I work in the Unicef, without having a responsibility for children's life and for committing to the world's education, I can easily give it up.

Third, Speaking and writing in UN official language fluently is one of the essential ability.
Without this ability, all abilities I mentioned above become useless. So, in order to work with other employees and children around the world, speaking and writing ability is essentially required.
Based on English fluency, one other language is required. I think my french speaking and writing ability will be helpful. However, language ability is the most important and the most difficult for me. Therefore, I should develop my language skills more and more by making this first priority.

The most important ability is to trust ourselves and to move forward slowly. Although my ability is still small things and it seems that it will be hard to work in company in which I've dreamed to work, even though It would be difficult thing right now, someday my dream will come true.
I wish that this fantastic day is going to come to you and me and all of us!

    1. what i like about this piece of writing is that you briefly introduced the reasons why you need certain qualities to work in UNICEF.

    2. Your main point seems to be "the education, spirit of dedication and commitment and fluency in language is essential to work in UNICEF."

    3. It would be better if you summarized the body paragraphs in the conclusion.

Three above abilities is essential to work not only in unicef but also in company. Especially, speaking foreign language has become one of the main requirements in recruiting. We can get these abilities when we give much effort on them. However, most of all, the most important ability is to trust ourselves and to move forward slowly. Although my ability is still small things and it seems that it will be hard to work in company in which I've dreamed to work, even though It would be difficult thing right now, someday my dream will come true.
