Yujin Song/ Process essay/ Tue 9am

The aroma of coffee filling in the air, we easily smell it these days. But have you ever run a café? I had wished to run a café since I graduated from high school, and I had the opportunity to do this. My club decided to run a café for a day and donate the whole profit to help the poor. We rented a café and then started to prepare. We spent a lot of time and effort planning and preparing for the project.

To start with, we formed the whole plan three weeks before the event. First, we decided to sell a few kinds of beverages and desserts. Then, we divided the work; one team was to make all kinds of coffee, another team was assigned to make other beverages, and the other team was supposed to cook desserts. After that, we agreed that it would be better to decorate the café altogether. Finally, all members went to the market to buy necessary materials.

My team was in charge of beverages and we started with lemonade because it took a few days to make it. First of all, we rubbed lemons with rock salt and rinsed them under running water. Next, we soaked them in water mixed with baking soda and vinegar for 10-15 minutes. After his, we cut lemons into thin slices and removed seeds. Then, we mixed sliced lemons with sugar and put them into a bottle, and all we had to do was to wait for two or three days. Finally, we mixed this lemon syrup with soda. Though it was the first time we made lemonade, it was delicious and we were very proud.

The all members decorated the café the day before the event. First, we mopped the floor and wiped tables. Next, we spread a tablecloth and then placed napkins, a small lamp and a menu on each table. After that, we put up some posters informing the meaning of the event on the wall and placed a few brochures about the club at the entrance. Finally, the café was ready to welcome people and it made us more excited.

Even though it took a long time to prepare for the event, all the members had fun while planning the project. Also, a lot of people came and enjoyed with us, and the donation was successful as well. It was a great experience to run a real café on my own and help others at the same time.
